Vezugen is the tripeptide Lys-Glu-Asp, also written KED. Its target is the vascular endothelium, the single-cell lining of every blood vessel that sets vascular tone and controls blood flow. The Khavinson hypothesis is that peptides this small enter the cell, bind specific promoter regions of DNA, and regulate transcription of the proteins that keep a vessel wall functioning. In vitro work on endothelial cells under atherosclerotic and restenotic conditions reported that KED normalised endothelin-1, a potent vasoconstrictor, restored connexins, the gap-junction proteins cells use to communicate, and raised SIRT1 (
PMID 28539025). The honest part: this framework is well-documented in Khavinson's Russian literature but has not been independently replicated in mainstream Western molecular biology, and controlled human trials are scarce. Treat the mechanism as a serious hypothesis, not settled fact.
