Modafinil and weight — razumna does not sell modafinil for weight loss
1-minute read
Some buyers ask whether modafinil produces weight loss. The answer is that razumna does not market the drug for that purpose, and this page explains the position.
The position
Razumna sells generic modafinil for off-label cognitive use cases that align with the drug’s established pharmacology, sustained alertness during long workdays in adults without contraindicating conditions. Razumna does not sell modafinil as a weight-loss product. Razumna does not characterize modafinil as effective for weight management. The FDA-approved indications do not include weight management.
Why the question gets asked
Modafinil reduces subjective appetite for some users during its active window. This is a secondary effect of its wakefulness action and not a deliberate pharmacological feature. The size of any associated weight effect across clinical observation has been small. The drug has not been established or approved as a treatment for obesity or weight reduction.
Why razumna doesn’t recommend it for weight
The side-effect profile (anxiety, headache, insomnia) is not justified by the magnitude of any weight effect. Better-evidenced and lower-side-effect-burden options exist within the regulated weight-management category. Self-directed use of a Schedule IV substance for an unapproved indication is a regulatory and personal risk razumna cannot endorse.
If weight is the question, talk to a physician
The right reference for weight management is a qualified clinician with access to a full medical history and current weight-management literature. Razumna is not that reference.
