Buying Bitcoin, a ten-minute guide
If you have never purchased cryptocurrency, the process takes about ten minutes from start to finish. This page summarises the options and the steps. Razumna does not earn commission from any of the services below.
Three on-ramp services that work
| Service | Best for | Verification needed | Fees (approximate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MoonPay | Most countries; fastest sign-up | Photo of ID + selfie | ~3% above market |
| Ramp | UK and EU users | Photo of ID + selfie | ~2–3% above market |
| Coinbase | US users; full exchange functionality | Full KYC (ID, address) | Variable; lower for larger amounts |
Steps
- Download a Bitcoin wallet. Examples: Muun (mobile, simple), Sparrow (desktop, more control), Trezor or Ledger (hardware, most secure). Skip exchange-hosted wallets for this; you want to control the keys.
- Sign up for an on-ramp. Pick one from the table above based on your country. Complete the identity verification, usually a photo of your ID and a selfie. Verification typically takes minutes.
- Buy the amount you need. Add a card or bank account, enter the amount in your local currency, and have the Bitcoin sent to your wallet address. Allow a few minutes for the transaction to confirm.
- Place your razumna order. Check out and select Bitcoin. The confirmation email will contain the receiving address and the exact amount. Send from your wallet. Razumna marks the order paid once the transaction confirms.
What about CashApp, Strike, Robinhood?
CashApp and Strike both let US users buy Bitcoin and withdraw it to an external address. Robinhood historically did not permit withdrawals; it has since changed that policy in some jurisdictions. Check before relying on any of these. If a withdrawal is permitted, the flow is the same as above: buy Bitcoin, send it to your wallet, then send from your wallet to the razumna receiving address.
Why razumna does not display affiliate links
Affiliate links would create a financial incentive to recommend services that are not the best fit for the customer. The services above are recommended because they work for the typical razumna customer, not because they pay a commission.
Frequently asked
Do I need to verify my identity with razumna?
No. Razumna does not perform identity verification on customers. The on-ramp service verifies you when you buy Bitcoin; razumna only sees the incoming transaction.
Is buying Bitcoin legal?
In every jurisdiction razumna ships to, yes. Cryptocurrency purchase is a regulated but legal activity. The on-ramp services above operate under those regulations.
How much should I buy?
Buy slightly more than the order total to allow for network fees and exchange-rate movement between the moment of purchase and the moment you send. A 1–2% buffer is typically sufficient.
